One Story Grandpa Alan likes to tell us is the story of him seeing a Grizzly
in Yellowstone. He says that it was trying to open someone else’s cooler.
He tried scaring it away with noise. Little did he know that it was not a
black bear, but a brown bear. The bear got on its hind legs, and began
walking towards him. Immediately, the other family drove in a car, scaring
away the bear.
Another story Grandpa has told us many times is the story about him
hurting his shoulder. According to Grandpa, he was hiking and almost fell
off a steep drop and thankfully stopped himself from falling, but in
doing so, seriously hurt his shoulder. His shoulder on that arm
doesn’t have the same function as his other arm, but as Grandpa would say,
it beats the alternative!
